General Volunteer Opportunities
Curious George Cottage Host – Greet visitors to the Curious George Cottage, the former summer home of Margret and H.A. Rey. Provide information about the Reys, Rey Center programs, and the Waterville Valley region. Shifts are 2-4 hours in length and are on Saturdays. Curious George Story Time – Read Curious George and other Rey stories to children and families attending Curious George Story Time held on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. at the Margret and H.A. Rey Center. Curious George Story Time at WV Ski Resort- Read to children attending the WV Ski Kids Kamps on Saturdays. Rey Center Office Help - Help keep the Rey Center running smoothly by filing papers and scanning older files for archiving. Event Committee Member – Do you like planning parties and events? If so, the Rey Center event committee is for you! Join this committee made up of Rey Center staff and board members as well as community members. This committee plans fundraising events, donor appreciation events, and friend-raising events. Welch Ledges Education & Stewardship Program – Love to hike the Welch-Dickey Trail in Thornton, NH? Join the Rey Center in protecting this fragile and heavily impacted environment by becoming a Welch Ledge Steward. Stewards are trained to interact with hikers to share the story of the exceptional and delicate alpine plant species that inhabit the Welch Ledges, and their vulnerability to visitor impacts. Stewards also collect data that will help preserve these delicate plant communities. |
Volunteer Opportunities for Students grades 7-12
The Rey Center at the Curious George Cottage - Keep the Cottage open and clean for visitors, water plants, read to children and families during story time, hang program posters at Lodges, on announcement boards and at businesses, help kids with arts and crafts projects and more! Outdoors - Be a Welch Ledge or Trail Steward, keep grounds and flowerbeds looking good at the Cottage and Community Gardens, perform trail upkeep on the Curious George Nature Trail, assist with Dark Sky Stargazing nights. |
