Rey Center is pleased to share the following good news on filmmaker, Ema Yamazaki.]]>Fri, 01 Jan 2016 14:28:19 GMThttp://thereycenter.org/whats-happening/the-margret-and-ha-rey-center-is-pleased-to-share-the-following-good-news-on-filmmaker-ema-yamazakiEma Yamazaki, creator of Monkey Business, a documentary about the lives of Margret and Hans Rey has been awarded a $25,000 grant through the Curious George Foundation/Combined Jewish Philanthropies and a generous $2000 grant from the Waterville Valley Foundation. Ema has also received several very generous donations from members of the Waterville Valley community.

This full-length documentary opens us to the life and times of Hans and Margret Rey, the creation of Curious George and their love for Waterville Valley. In October, Ema attended an event here in Waterville Valley hosted by Chris & Len Bierbrier, Birdie & Dave Britton, and Tina & Mike Koppel. At this event she shared a clip of the film focusing on the valley and highlighting the Rey's lives here. Many folks that knew the Reys were interviewed by Ema and appear in the clip. Although the Rey Center was not able to support this project financially, many members of the community gave time for interviews and offered lodging and a setting for filming.

Thanks to all who helped Ms. Yamazaki reach this success. Stay tuned for more updates as she completes the final cut of the film and begins marketing it to outlets such as HBO, Netflix, and PBS.
